Introducing, Sharde'!

What's up, Kings and Queens?! Welcome to Story Behind the Look! Soooo what did you do for Valentine's Day?! Did you have fun? Well, I hope whatever you decided to do that you had fun and felt loved! Even if you didn't do anything, I hope you had an amazing weekend! Let's get into this week's post! I would like to introduce you all to Sharde', creator of @twiggynchic on Instagram!

My journey started when I was a preteen and my parents divorced. Being raised by a single mother who’s taking care of 5 kids, frequent shopping for clothes wasn’t considered a necessity. By nature, I always loved working even before the legal age limit so I would get creative & find ways to make money so I could go shopping. I would go to the thrift because I knew the little money I earned would go further. When I entered high school I started a modeling club and used thrifting to create looks for the models. Thrifting was and still is a playground of wonders. It’s like a scavenger hunt for the creatives because there are endless possibilities if you have the patience to look.

I had the intentions of buying this dress to resell but secretly was hoping it didn’t sell so I could keep it for myself. When I saw it at the thrift store, it was like Love at First Sight. I instantly knew how I wanted to style it & tried to describe to my viewers my vision. After deciding to keep this dress for myself, I styled her as soon as I got home. With this dress on, I instantly felt empowered, like a superhero that just put on their cape. By having some of the buttons unfastened in the front and leaving the zipper slightly down in the back to create a keyhole, I can show off my best assets, my legs and my back. Creating a little sex appeal in a classy way but also to give the illusion that I look taller. I added the gloves and gaudy jewels because I felt like a Million Bucks so I wanted to look the part & manifest my future. This full look is inspired by Chanel, 90’s high fashion Versace when Donatello was the designer, & Dior. It’s the details such as the hourglass silhouette of the design and the gaudy details, like the gold-rimmed buttons and medium belt.

Your clothes should bring you joy & excitement. I believe when you look good, you feel good. An outfit is nothing more than just clothes if the person wearing it doesn’t exude confidence. Confidence is the key to not only looking good in the clothes you wear but getting ahead in life as well. As far as thrifting advice, it can be a little overwhelming so having a list is a good way of staying level-headed. If you’re new to thrifting, you can also create an inspirational board. Save looks that inspire you and see if you can thrift them to reality. Most importantly, go in open-minded to the possibilities of not what the clothes presently look like but what they can become. Lastly, know what styles work best for your body type, and when you’re inspired by something, don’t replicate it, put your own spin on it and turn it into your own.
